HVAC Take-Off Specialist

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Take-Off Specialist to serve as the critical link between mechanical designs and the manufacturing floor. This role is responsible for reviewing commercial HVAC mechanical plans, identifying the appropriate roof curbs, adapters, and accessories required for each project, and generating accurate material lists and pricing quotes for customers.

The ideal candidate has experience reviewing construction drawings, performing take-offs, and working with HVAC equipment specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Blueprint Analysis

• Perform comprehensive take-offs from commercial mechanical (M-series) and architectural drawings .
• Review project plans and specifications to identify required materials and components.

Product Identification

• Cross-reference HVAC unit model numbers (Carrier, Trane, Lennox, etc.) with the appropriate curb and adapter footprints.
• Ensure all components align with project specifications and mechanical requirements.

Estimating & Quoting

• Calculate material requirements including sheet metal gauge, insulation, and related components .
• Estimate labor and material costs to generate accurate and competitive customer quotes .

Technical Collaboration

• Partner with sales and production teams to ensure custom-manufactured parts meet project specifications.
• Provide technical insight to help resolve design or specification questions.

Data & Documentation

• Maintain organized records of quotes, take-offs, and project details within internal tracking systems.
• Ensure all project documentation is accurate and accessible.

Qualifications

Experience

• 2+ years of experience in one of the following areas:
  
  
  • Construction estimating
  • HVAC parts distribution
  • Sheet metal fabrication

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in reading blueprints and construction drawings .
• Experience with take-off software such as Bluebeam or PlanSwift is highly preferred.

Knowledge

• Basic understanding of HVAC equipment and commercial roofing terminology .
• Familiarity with HVAC brands such as Carrier, Trane, Lennox , or similar manufacturers.

• Ability to identify discrepancies in drawings that could impact manufacturing or installation.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
