Project Engineer

Raymond West is looking for an innovative Project Engineer to join our team! The successful candidate will be responsible for designing concept and installation drawings using AutoCAD and supporting project execution. Experience with building permits, high-pile storage permits, and working with local municipalities and regulatory agencies is highly desirable. Our Project Engineers work closely with the Sales team and other Storage and Automation staff to oversee design and engineering support of our project management team while maintaining Raymond's reputation, integrity, and customer-first approach. Duties and Responsibilities: Primary duties and responsibilities will vary with the specific position. Typical responsibilities are listed below. This list is not inclusive. Understanding of warehousing, material storage, and material handling including the various types of storage racking and equipment for moving material Develop storage design concepts based on customer operational requirements and data. Work with the Sales Team and customers to develop solutions. Development of 2D and possibly 3D CAD drawings to support the sales process. When needed, support the project management team with engineering and vendor communications. Work within a teamwork oriented and collaborative environment. Ensure quality standards maintained across all areas of responsibility. Demonstrate high attention to detail, solid organization, and planning skills. An understanding of Industrial Engineering work methods and related materials handling equipment. Assist customers to define initiatives to improve quality and/or productivity and/or space savings. Occasionally attend conferences, meetings, vendor seminars and training to stay current in the material handling equipment technologies industry and evaluate whether new concepts are applicable to our customers. Follow departmental and company procedures. Knowledge of 3rd party procurement including development of RFPs/RFQs, bid review and assessment, and contract award in cooperation with purchasing resources is a plus. Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent Organizational Time Management skills Proficient in Microsoft office Suite and similar software Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with employees, Co-workers, and Managers in other departments. Must be willing to work off-hours as specific needs dictate and willing to assume more responsibility as required. Be able to demonstrate proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project. Be able to perform rack design & layout to include Selective, Deep Reach, Push Back, Cantilever, Pallet Flow, Carton Flow and Shelving. Be able to perform design and layout for related products to include, but not limited to the following: Mezzanine, Wire Guidance & Shelving. Be familiar with seismic design requirements, high pile, code, permitting and costing. Possess knowledge and understanding of application requirements for Narrow Aisle, Very Narrow Aisle, Counterbalance, and IC Forklifts Be able to scale and completely take off of existing facilities as requested. Be able to perform duties under minimal supervision but respond to rapidly varying requirements. Demonstrate drive and initiative, maintain records of activities. Be willing to comply with Employee Handbook. Be willing to continually learn new products and policies. Be able to manage time effectively and maintain an acceptable attendance record. Be willing and able to learn quickly and perform accurately and neatly with a degree of flexibility. Be able to perform independently, and as part of a team with Sales Representatives, suppliers, installers, and clients. Be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must have a valid, unrestricted driver license with no more than allowable number of points on record. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Education/Experience: Minimum Education and Experience: Determined by position. Bachelor's Degree in Drafting, Engineering or equivalent is required. Must have experience with AutoCAD. Pay Range : The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $105,000. The specific pay offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
