We work with Basin states, industries and communities to manage the Murray–Darling Basin’s water resources. The MDBA aims to achieve a healthy working Basin for the benefit of all Australians. The Murray–Darling Basin contains a rich diversity of natural environments that are unique in Australia and the world. The Basin is also crucial to Australia’s economy and home to 2.3 million Australians, including people from over 50 First Nations. How we manage the Basin as a whole connected system, manage our water carefully, and protect it for future generations is set out in the Murray-Darling Basin Plan. The register The Murray–Darling Basin Authority (the MDBA) Section 26 Employment Register is only open to ongoing Australian Public Service (APS) employees interested in potential ongoing (at-level) and temporary (non-ongoing, at level or with higher duties) transfer opportunities to the MDBA. The register supports the MDBA in accessing suitable individuals to fill a variety of vacant employment opportunities across various classifications and business areas, at short notice. Section 26 transfers also facilitate mobility across the APS, career development opportunities, as well as knowledge and skills transfer. You will only be contacted if a suitable vacancy, that matches your skills and experience, arises. Submitting an application on this register does not guarantee an offer of employment with the MDBA. Applications remain active until 30 June 2027 . The opportunities We are looking for people who have a range of skills and experience across corporate and technical disciplines. Roles offered may range from the APS Level 3 to Executive Level 2 classification, and be full-time or part-time. Our MDBA team consists of experts across a broad range of roles. We work on many cross‑cutting issues and we work with a range of stakeholders to overcome these challenges such as Basin state colleagues, commonwealth agencies, research bodies, advocacy groups and community. Eligibility To be eligible for employment with the MDBA, candidates are subject to pre-employment screening requirements, which may include: Australian citizenship – as per section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999. Undergoing and satisfying a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check. Willingness to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the appropriate level applicable to the position.
