Position Summary

This position is responsible for functioning as both a caregiver and care manager. In the caregiver role, the Registered Nurse (RN) assumes responsibility for a group of patients over a designated time frame while implementing the Nursing Process. In the role of care manager, the RN directs and oversees the work of other caregivers, including nurses and non-nurses, through delegation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of patient care outcomes. The individual in this position must understand the purpose and operation of Patient Care Services and possess the ability to make sound judgments in various situations.

Essential Functions

• Perform assessments and data collection focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status.
• Implement care skillfully and consistently in adherence to established procedures and policies.
• Identify and assess patient learning needs and implement teaching as defined by policy.
• Document patient information accurately and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Work Environment

This position reports to the Nursing Department Director, House Supervisor, Charge Nurse, and other designated supervisory staff. Collaboration with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals is essential for ensuring optimal patient care and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• License: Current Registered Nurse licensure in Washington State.
• Certification: Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
• Experience: Preferred experience as an acute care Registered Nurse; at least one year of RN experience preferred in specialty nursing departments.
