Practice Groups : Consumer, Telco & Technology Location : New York, Chicago, Boston Role : Engagement Manager The Practice Oliver Wyman helps industry leaders in the consumer, telco, and technology industries develop value growth strategies, improve operations, and maximize organizational effectiveness. Our clients include leading wireless and wireline equipment and communications service providers, enterprise IT, consumer electronics, semiconductor, broadcasters, publishers, platform operators, and online entertainment companies. Responsibilities Provide day‑to‑day leadership of client projects and aspects of the client relationship and commercial process, partnering with Partners and sharing responsibility for engagement success. Lead and manage complex programs to ensure on‑time delivery that meets agreed goals, leveraging firm best practice and technical competence. Guide and influence clients across all situations, including execution of the commercial process, becoming trusted advisors. Engage fully in business building by identifying new and expanded opportunities. Create thought leadership and maintain broad industry knowledge. Develop others and build a followership as part of asset building for the firm. Serve as a role model for firm values, maintaining a strong personal brand within and outside the firm. Oversee and guide the consulting team in developing hypotheses, reviewing client information, conducting client interviews, deriving insights, and producing deliverables. Support Partners in project execution through excellent project management, including work planning, workflow management, and coaching/developing junior team members. Desired Skills and Experience 5‑8 years of relevant experience in strategy consulting with a top‑tier firm (or similar organization). Experience within Retail, Consumer Goods, Telecommunications, Software/Technology, or Media industries preferred. Track record of leading and managing teams and delivering results in fast‑paced, demanding environments. Strong background in strategic problem solving with demonstrable analytical skills. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Quantitative, technical toolkit including proficiency in SQL and Python. Undergraduate or advanced degree from a top academic program. Client management experience. Passion for the creative process and expansive thinking. Analytical and rigorous approach to uncovering insights. Excellent facilitation and presentation skills. Versatility, flexibility, and enthusiasm for changing priorities. Impeccable judgment and decisive decision making. Balance of humility and confidence, seeking truth through inquiry. Highly motivated and committed to excellence. Willingness to travel 50% of the time, including internationally. Benefits & Compensation The applicable base salary range for this role is $225,000 – $240,000. Base pay will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. The position may also be eligible for performance‑based incentives.
