Details 36-bed Post-Op/Oncology/Tele unit in an acute care, Trauma Level 2 hospital Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:5-6 Patient population includes general Med/Surg, post-op cases (lap chole, lap appy), and oncology patients with complications such as neutropenic precautions, pneumonia, or infections Permanent staff administer chemotherapy; frequent chest tube management including PleurX catheters for oncology patients Occasional psychiatric patients requiring 1:1 sitter supervision 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with every-other-weekend rotation (Sat/Sun) Required to work holidays as part of the standard rotation with perm staff Floats to any Med/Surg or Tele unit as needed Uses EPIC EMR Titrates Heparin drips only; no cardiac drips administered Phillips telemetry monitors used; RNs must independently read and interpret strips despite central monitor tech support 24/7 charge nurse coverage, with night shift charge nurse taking a patient assignment 3 CNAs staffed on both day and night shifts Requirements Active RN license (WV or Compact) required BLS certification (AHA) required Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Acute care hospital experience required EPIC EMR experience preferred ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification is a plus Experience with PleurX chest tubes is highly desirable Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips required Copy of unexpired driver's license required for consideration Additional Information Provide direct patient care including chest tube management and monitoring of oncology and post-surgical patients Royal blue scrubs required; false nails are not permitted Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered Returning travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year without taking a 2-year break American Traveler Job ID P-749576.
