Overview
Respiratory Therapist (Registered Respiratory Therapist) opportunity in Saint Helena, California. This travel, temporary assignment begins on 08/24/2026 for 8 weeks. Guaranteed hours are 36 per week, with a night shift of 3x12 hours (7:00 PM–7:00 AM). The position operates in a Short Term Acute Care Hospital setting and focuses on adult and geriatric respiratory care, with opportunities to supervise others as delegated.

Responsibilities
- Assess and document the appropriateness of prescribed respiratory therapies for adult and geriatric patients; adjust as ordered.
- Administer aerosolized therapies and oxygen therapy; maintain accurate flow sheets and charts.
- Draw arterial blood gases per policy and physician orders; document results in the patient record.
- Provide comprehensive care for ventilated patients, including monitoring, weaning support, and ventilator adjustments as directed.
- Assist in department record keeping, training/supervision of new staff as delegated, and ensure proper documentation for charges and records.

Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential; Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license; required in CA.
- Certifications: CPR/BLS from an approved vendor; ACLS and PALS required; NRP preferred; PEARS preferred; ACLS/PALS may be required by department policy.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Experience: At least two years of recent experience in respiratory care; current Epic EMR experience required.
- Other: Ability to work night shift in a hospital setting; able to provide care for adult and geriatric patients.
