What You Can Expect At ENGIE, we are accelerating the energy transition across North America through utility-scale solar, wind, and battery storage projects. We need a strategic procurement leader to shape how we source, contract, and deliver the equipment that powers this transformation. As Director of Strategic Sourcing, you will lead sourcing strategy for a portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects across North America, with responsibility for critical equipment categories including PV, BESS, wind, and high-voltage/major power equipment. In this role, you will shape commercial strategy from early-stage development through construction by influencing supplier selection, pricing, contracting, schedule alignment, and risk mitigation before final investment decisions are made. You will work cross-functionally with Development, Engineering, Pre-Construction, Delivery, Legal, Health & Safety, and ENGIE Group category leaders to ensure sourcing strategies support project competitiveness, governance, and execution success. This is a highly visible leadership role with direct impact on project economics, investment approvals, supplier performance, and long-range supply strategy across ENGIE's renewables portfolio. What You Will Do
- Develop and execute North American category and sourcing strategies for utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, main power transformers, and other high-voltage equipment, aligning regional priorities with global procurement governance
- Lead supplier identification, qualification, competitive bidding, commercial negotiations, and contract award processes while building strategic relationships with OEMs, contractors, and critical equipment suppliers
- Own equipment-related CAPEX inputs, technology and cost curves, procurement schedules, and supply assumptions used in project budgets, investment approvals, development decisions, and portfolio planning
- Direct the preparation and execution of RFPs, contracting strategies, bid evaluations, and long-lead equipment procurement from greenfield development through construction and operations
- Identify market, technology, logistics, quality, and supplier-performance risks; establish mitigation and contingency strategies that protect project schedules, budgets, and execution commitments
- Partner with Engineering, Project Management, Preconstruction, Legal, Finance, and Health and Safety teams to guide technical and commercial decisions, manage supplier performance, and resolve contract disputes, claims, and change orders
- Lead and develop strategic sourcing professionals by setting priorities, allocating resources, strengthening execution discipline, and embedding supplier performance management, lessons learned, and continuous improvement across the portfolio
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related field, with an MBA or comparable advanced degree preferred; equivalent executive leadership experience in enterprise-level sourcing strategy will also be considered
- Minimum 15 years of experience in renewable energy, utility-scale construction, industrial capital projects, strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply-chain management
- Demonstrated experience leading sourcing and contract management for large, utility-scale projects across the United States and Canada
- Advanced knowledge of competitive bidding, commercial negotiations, contract development, supplier qualification, category strategy, logistics, and long-lead equipment procurement
- Experience developing CAPEX estimates, sourcing schedules, cost and technology curves, project forecasts, and procurement inputs used to support investment and development decisions
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships at executive levels. leadership of sourcing professionals and cross-functional project teams responsible for supplier strategy, project execution, and portfolio-level procurement outcomes
- Working knowledge of project and construction delivery environments, including coordination with engineering, project management, legal, and HSE teams, plus familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Office, Procore, and Microsoft Project
- This role is eligible for our hybrid in-office work policy; and is not eligible for remote work
- Must be available to travel domestically / internationally up to 35% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
