Substitute Nurse

Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substitute Nurse to provide temporary nursing care in various educational and healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to different environments. This role requires flexibility, professionalism, and a commitment to ensuring the health and well-being of students and patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to students/patients in the absence of the regular nurse, ensuring their health and safety.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
• Assess and document the health status of students/patients, including vital signs and any changes in condition.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid as needed.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and healthcare professionals to support the health needs of students/patients.
• Maintain accurate and confidential health records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Educate students and staff on health-related topics, including hygiene, nutrition, and illness prevention.
• Participate in training and professional development to stay current with best practices in nursing and healthcare.
• Assist with the management of health screenings and immunization programs as required.
• Follow all school and healthcare policies and procedures to ensure a safe and supportive environment.

Requirements

• Current nursing license (LPN or RN) in good standing.
• NJ School Nurse Substitute Credential
• Previous experience in a school or healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work on short notice and adapt to varying schedules.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Background check clearance as per state regulations.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Rate: $200.00 per day

Please be advised that all substitutes must also provide proof of negative Mantoux (TB) test dated within six months of their first date of employment.
