Lactation Consultant, Clinical Nutrition & Lactation (Part Time)

Overview Work Location: Orange, California. Work Shift: Day – 08hrs (United States of America). Job Summary The Lactation Consultant provides clinical expertise, support, and education to nursing dyads within a family-centered care environment. Regularly participates in professional activities including lectures, staff training, and research. Responsibilities Provide lactation consulting services to breastfeeding mothers and their babies within a family-centered care model. Participate in staff education, lectures, and research activities as assigned. Compensation Pay Range: Minimum $50.40; Midpoint $66.78; Maximum $83.16. Rate of pay determined by factors including knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, and position requirements. Requirements Experience — Required: Minimum two (2) years of experience in direct patient care as a registered nurse, registered dietitian, occupational therapist, or speech/language pathologist; experience providing lactation assistance and education to breastfeeding mothers. Prefer NICU experience as a lactation consultant or in the individual’s discipline (RN, RD, OTR/L, or CCC-SLP). Two or more years of experience as a lactation consultant. Education — Required: Graduate of an accredited program in nursing, dietetics, occupational therapy, or speech/language pathology and completion of a lactation training program with eligibility to take the International Board-Ccertified Lactation Consultant exam within 18 months of hire. Specialized Skills — Required: Knowledge of and ability to provide appropriate family-centered patient care based on age appropriateness and cultural needs; excellent customer satisfaction, written and verbal communication; ability to promote safe care within licensure and regulatory requirements; ability to prioritize, plan, and evaluate results; promote teamwork toward CHOC's mission. L icensure — Required: International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) – required within 18 months of employment; Basic Life Support (BLS); Clinical Licensure (RN, RD, OT, SLP). Preferred: IBCLC upon hire. Additional Information Work Environment: Functional demands include light to moderate energy, with physical activities such as lifting 25-35 lbs and pushing/pulling 50-100 lbs as described in the original posting.
