The Purchasing & Inventory Coordinator is responsible for managing parts flow, inventory accuracy, and material availability to support the transmission remanufacturing process. This role ensures the right components are available at the right time to maintain efficient production and minimize downtime. Identify what products are to be purchased, working closely with other departments in the organization and customers to determine current and future purchasing needs. Then, purchasing coordinators must identify the best supplier for the company needs, compare prices, investigate quality issues, and research delivery times for each supplier and weigh these aspects with the organization’s needs to determine the best supplier for each item.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate inventory of transmission parts, components, and supplies
• Receive, inspect, and stock incoming parts and materials
• Issue parts to production teams (tear down, build, valve body, etc.)
• Track inventory levels and notify management of shortages or reorder needs
• Perform cycle counts and periodic physical inventory audits
• Organize and label inventory for easy access and identification
• Monitor usage trends and support inventory planning and forecasting
• Coordinate with purchasing and vendors to ensure timely delivery of parts
• Manage core parts and reusable components from tear down
• Ensure proper storage and handling to prevent damage or contamination
• Maintain inventory records in system (ERP or inventory software)
• Keep storage areas clean, organized, and safe
• Be on time and ready to work each day
• Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude
• Communicate effectively and work responsibly
• Minimizing downtime due to part shortages
• Additional duties as assigned by management to support operations

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous inventory, warehouse, or manufacturing experience preferred
• Familiarity with automotive or transmission parts is a plus
• Basic computer skills (inventory systems, spreadsheets, ERP)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Frequent lifting of 25–60 lbs
• Ability to handle repetitive tasks
• Comfortable working with small and large parts

  Work Environment

• Warehouse / manufacturing facility
• Exposure to oils, grease, and mechanical components
• Moderate noise levels
• Required use of PPE (hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes, etc.)
