Position Overview

Our organization is on the lookout for a seasoned and driven clinical researcher to take on the role of Vice Chair of Research for the Psychological Services & Behavioral Health Service Line, as well as a Senior Research Scientist. This unique position combines leadership, research, education, and administrative duties aimed at furthering the objectives of our research institute and the broader organization.

The ideal candidate will spearhead both independent and collaborative research projects, manage scientific resources, mentor emerging scientists and trainees, and play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of behavioral health research and educational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Research Leadership:
  • Establish, sustain, and lead a self-directed, funded research program.
  • Act as Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) for multisite and institutional research projects.
  • Guide interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research teams.
  • Design and supervise scientific studies, including the development of protocols, data management, and quality assurance processes.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities; prepare and submit grant applications and scholarly articles.
  • Share research outcomes through publications and presentations.
• Strategic and Administrative Oversight:
  • Engage in academic strategic planning for the Service Line.
  • Support the professional development of clinical scientists within the Service Line and across interdisciplinary research initiatives.
  • Strategically recruit additional scientists and mentors.
  • Collaborate with internal academic partners and external institutions.
  • Participate in leadership committees and the Academic Steering Committee for the Service Line.
  • Work with finance and post-award teams on budgeting and financial management.
• Education and Mentorship:
  • Create and oversee educational programs for students, residents, fellows, and allied health professionals.
  • Guide junior scientists, research assistants, and clinical faculty in research design, IRB submissions, and dissemination of findings.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree (PhD, MD/PhD, OD/PhD, OD, DMin).
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in independent and collaborative research.
• Demonstrated success in securing research funding and serving as a senior author in high-impact journals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proven experience in mentoring and academic leadership.

Work Environment

The role will involve working in office settings, home offices, and community environments. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional evening and weekend commitments. Candidates should be able to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds on occasion.
