Employment Counsel (Insurance, Part‑Time, Remote, IN HOUSE) $100.00/hr - $120.00/hr Our client, a privately‑held leader in the U.S. insurance and retirement planning space known for its expansive distribution network and rapid growth through acquisitions, is seeking a part‑time Employment Counsel to support its Legal and Compliance team on employment law matters on a fully remote basis. This role will provide strategic and practical legal guidance on HR‑related issues, policy development, and employment agreements, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws. Key Responsibilities Advise HR and leadership on employment law matters, including investigations and compliance issues. Draft, review, and update HR policies, employee handbooks, and related documentation. Prepare and negotiate separation agreements, retention agreements, and other employment‑related contracts. Assist with internal investigations and provide recommendations for resolution. Support overflow legal work related to employment and labor law. Collaborate with HR, compliance, and business leaders to mitigate risk and ensure best practices. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. 5+ years of experience in employment law, preferably in‑house or with a focus on insurance/financial services. Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations. Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
