DSP/Job Coach (ASL Required)

- Communicate effectively with the client using ASL.
- Consistently model appropriate work maturity skills and hold consumer to the same expectations.
- Always uphold standards of work contract, which may include finding a substitute if consumer leaves early or is absent.
- Promotes strengths-based perspective while empowering the individual to reach desired outcomes.
- Monitor consumer’s work performance and provide feedback and prompts when needed.
- Ensure safety is maintained in the work environment at all times.
- Know and adhere to established agency policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Attending agency and program orientation session.
- Demonstrating competency in completing all required forms, timecards, and reports.
- Consistently receive satisfactory performance evaluations.
- Provide service for the consumer regardless of location by creating and maintaining an atmosphere that is welcoming, understanding, communicative, and supportive of the consumer.
- Willing and able to substitute consumer services for other HAHOC Job Coaches, when needed.
- Fluency in ASL to communicate with client
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer service
- Must have knowledge of the HIPAA laws of 1996 to maintain and safeguard confidential medical and personal records.
- Must have proven ability to provide descriptive notes addressing interventions used and individual response in database.
- Working knowledge of signs and symptoms of common illnesses and conditions
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to consistently be at work and on time.
- Ability to maintain a confidential working relationship.
- Excellent personal organizational skills
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain a positive attitude in difficult situations.
- Must be at least 18 years of age; and have a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Possess and maintain a valid Alaska driver’s license and insured vehicle that meets minimum State of Alaska insurance requirements.
- Able to pass and provide a Background Check that meets State of Alaska requirements.
- Must be able to communicate and support the client who uses ASL.
- Able and knowledgeable to cope with emergency situations (i.e. accidents, CPR, seizures, etc.), in a calm and efficient manner.

- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate with the client.
- Position may require extended hours including evenings and weekends.
