Policy Advisor

Reports to: Executive Director Mission Fit SureVoter ™ sits at the intersection of civic technology, voter access, and AI — three of the fastest-moving regulatory spaces in the country. The Policy Advisor makes sure the Foundation sees changes in that landscape before they become a problem, and helps the platform's compliance posture stay ahead of it rather than reacting to it. What You'll Own Monitor the legislative and regulatory landscape affecting civic technology, voter access, and AI governance at the state and federal level. Advise Foundation leadership on what's changing, what it means for SureVoter ™ specifically, and what (if anything) needs to change in response. Help shape the platform's compliance posture in partnership with SureVoter ™ LLC's legal and product teams — this role sits in the Foundation but its findings often matter most on the LLC side. Translate regulatory complexity into language the founding team and Board can actually act on. What Success Looks Like No regulatory surprises. Leadership hears about relevant policy shifts from this role before they hear about them from the press or a partner. Compliance decisions are made with real lead time, not under deadline pressure. You’ll Thrive Here If You have real depth in election law, civic technology policy, or AI governance — and you can hold nonpartisan analytical distance from all of it. You're comfortable being the person who says "this is a real risk" before anyone else has noticed it. You can write a two-paragraph brief that a non-lawyer founder can actually use to make a decision. Reporting & Structure Reports to the Executive Director. Coordinates directly with SureVoter ™ LLC's legal function and with the Executive Director on Board-level risk conversations. Structure & Compensation This role's shape isn't fixed in advance, and it's one of the roles most likely to work well as part-time or advisory. We'd rather scope the structure around a strong candidate's real availability than force expert-level, judgment-heavy work into a full-time mold it doesn't need. Compensation is scoped individually based on experience and the shape of the engagement.
