As a global manufacturing leader, we design and build products that support critical infrastructure around the world—from utility poles to communication towers, industrial products, and more. Valmont is seeking a motivated and talented Civil/Structural Engineering Intern to join our Global Utility Division. In this role, you will work alongside our Concrete Design Engineering team, contributing to meaningful projects while gaining hands‑on experience from industry‑leading engineers. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop technical skills, learn engineering best practices, and collaborate with subject matter experts across multiple business functions. You will gain valuable exposure to both the engineering and operational sides of the business, helping build a strong foundation for your future career. Valmont’s internship program is designed to provide a hands‑on learning experience through project work, job shadowing, leadership development, and interaction with senior leaders across the company. What You’ll Do Actively participate and recommend changes in design criteria, analysis methods, drafting procedures and developing new methods and procedures Work with a design team that consists of one or more individuals from Manufacturing, Procurement, Service, Quality Assurance and Engineering Services getting exposure to different angles of team development including the process used for troubleshooting potential design errors Gain and subsequently apply design knowledge when considering the manufacturability of the final design What We’re Looking For Rising junior or senior currently pursuing a degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical engineering from an ABET‑accredited college or university; degree in Civil or Structural engineering preferred CAD skills including design applications and converting drawings to 3D models Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint application Demonstrated strong communication interpersonal, verbal, written communication skills Demonstrated problem solving/critical thinking skills Preferred Exposure to concrete testing and mix design Experience in reinforced concrete design What You’ll Gain Paid internship with meaningful, career‑related work experience Tuition assistance and other benefits available based on hours worked Part‑time during the academic year, full‑time and flexible in the summer, with potential for a full‑time position post‑graduation A supportive culture focused on learning and growth Opportunities to collaborate with intern peers and company leaders Benefits Valmont offers employees and their families a comprehensive Total Wellbeing benefit package to ensure their individual and family’s overall wellness needs are met.
