A respected mid-size defense law firm in Columbia, Missouri is seeking a Civil Litigation Attorney to join its growing team. Responsibilities

• Represent clients throughout all phases of civil litigation, including discovery, depositions, mediations, court hearings, and trial proceedings.
• Develop and implement effective case strategies.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support litigation matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
• Prepare and respond to written discovery.
• Interview clients, witnesses, and other relevant parties.
• Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
• Attend court appearances and advocate on behalf of clients before judges and tribunals.
• Manage cases from inception through resolution while maintaining exceptional client service.
• Handle cases ranging from personal injury defense, insurance coverage, trucking liability defense, and premises liability defense.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Missouri, or eligible for admission.
• Prior civil litigation experience preferred.
• Experience handling cases from inception through resolution.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent legal writing and drafting skills.
• Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
• Ability to effectively manage deadlines and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
