As part of Marmon Rail (a Berkshire Hathaway company), we operate a growing network of facilities and field service teams across North America, supporting customers in transportation, energy, and manufacturing.We are looking for a Field Operations Supervisor to lead site-level operations, drive performance, and build high-performing teams. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about safety, quality, and operational excellence. **What You’ll Do:**This role is responsible for overseeing daily railcar repair operations while leading a skilled workforce and ensuring alignment with customer expectations.On any given day, you will:* Lead site operations with a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity* Conduct daily site walks to monitor work progress, identify risks, and ensure compliance* Drive performance against key metrics including turnaround time, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction* Manage staffing through recruitment, scheduling, training, and workforce planning* Facilitate daily team huddles (toolbox talks) to align on safety and production goals* Ensure accurate and timely repair tracking, reporting, and customer updates* Monitor and report KPIs including productivity, turnaround, and cost metrics* Participate in and support safety and quality audits* Oversee billing accuracy and timely completion* Support employee development, onboarding, and training initiatives* Lead and reinforce continuous improvement and visual management practices **What Makes This Role Different:*** Leadership Impact - Directly influence site performance, culture, and team success* Operational Ownership - Full responsibility for site execution and customer delivery* Growth Opportunity - Career paths across Transco, Marmon Rail, and 100+ Marmon companies* Dynamic Environment - Every day brings new challenges in a fast-paced operation **What We’re Looking For:**We’re seeking a strong, hands-on leader with a passion for safety, team development, and operational performance.**Requirements:*** High School diploma or equivalent* Previous supervisory or leadership experience* Strong knowledge of safety practices and quality standards* Ability to manage teams, schedules, and production priorities* Strong communication and problem-solving skills* Experience working with KPIs, reporting, and operational metrics**Preferred:*** Bachelor’s Degree or some college* Experience in railcar repair, manufacturing, or industrial environments* Background in multi-site or customer-facing operations* Experience with continuous improvement methodologies **Supervisory Responsibility:*** Directly manages site employees and daily operations* Responsible for hiring, training, performance management, and employee development* Leads disciplinary actions and conflict resolution in accordance with company policies **Work Environment:*** Combination of field and office-based work* Regular time spent in a railcar repair facility environment* Exposure to industrial conditions (noise, weather, equipment movement)* Physical activity including walking, climbing, and light lifting* May require extended hours based on operational needs **Site Specific Details:*** Location: Bayway, New Jersey* Shift: First Shift, Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm* Compensation: Base Salary: $76,000 - $80,000 **Compensation & Benefits**We know this role requires skill, flexibility, and commitment, and we compensate accordingly.
