Job Description Summary


Responsibilities include processing payroll, maintaining time and attendance records, reviewing payroll and payroll reports for accuracy. Work collaboratively across departments to ensure data integrity, compliance with policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

For applicants with a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent:

• Minimum of five (5) years of payroll or related experience required

For applicants with 2 years of college credits in a related field, associate's degree (or higher):

• Minimum of three (3) years of payroll or related experience required

Criteria

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Responsible for timely and accurate day-to-day payroll processing.
• Enter and verify all payroll entries including plus adjustments, minus adjustments, tax and direct deposit data.
• Process and maintain time and attendance hours, leave accruals and leave adjustments within the payroll platforms which includes Kronos and Colleague.
• Complete full cycle payroll processes on a biweekly basis for two payroll runs according to the current policies and procedures ensuring accurate pay, taxation and deductions.
• Transmits tax withholding payment to various tax agencies.
• Creates and transmits positive pay files (manual checks).
• Validate and prepare off cycle payroll runs as requested according to the off-cycle schedule.
• Process wage garnishments and tax levies.
• Calculate and process payroll adjustments for separation/termination.
• Monitor payroll inbox and respond to employee inquiries while maintaining confidentiality regarding all payroll data.
• Prepare various pay calendars and pay schedules.
• Assists with audit and reconciliations as needed.
• Communicate and respond to inquiries from agency representatives for employee deductions.
• Maintain a working knowledge of payroll compliance.
• Performs related work as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
• As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
• A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
