Position Overview

Primary Purpose of the Position: The Division of Nursing is seeking Adjunct Faculty to teach didactic and/or clinical in a variety of courses in the Undergraduate Family/Community Health Area, including Mental Health Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Maternal-Newborn Nursing, and Care of the Older Adult. Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Planning and providing theoretical and/or clinical instruction and experiences that reflect an understanding of the philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the nursing program and profession Facilitating student achievement of course objectives/learning outcomes through varied teaching methods. Evaluating student achievement of course objectives/learning outcomes. Utilizing feedback from student/faculty evaluations for instructional improvement Utilization of evidence-based research in teaching and the clinical practice of nursing

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Plan and provide didactic and/or clinical instruction and experiences that reflect an understanding of the philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the nursing program and profession Facilitate student achievement of course objectives/learning outcomes through varied teaching methods. Evaluate student achievement of course objectives/learning outcomes. Utilize feedback from student and faculty evaluations for instructional improvement Utilize evidence-based research in teaching and the clinical practice of nursing Demonstrate the ability to teach culturally and linguistically diverse student populations. Perform other duties that support the mission and strategic initiatives of Winston-Salem State University and the Division of Nursing Evidence of continued professional development through membership in a professional organization and/or certification in a specialty area of practice Serve as a role model for students in professional, social, and civic areas. Clinical Instruction Conduct the clinical/practicum component of the course Correlate classroom content to the clinical practice setting Facilitate students' achievement of course objectives/learning outcomes Facilitate mastery of clinical practice skills and competencies Evaluate students' level of competency and achievement of learning outcomes in the clinical practice setting
