X-Ray Tech

X-Ray Technologist

Available Friday to Sunday from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM EST, on-call and holidays based on unit needs. Must be able to report to on-call shifts within 30 minutes.

Responsibilities:

• Verify patient identity and review physician orders prior to conducting x-ray procedures.
• Utilize x-ray equipment to capture radiographic images of patients' bones, tissues, and organs as per physician directives.
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address any questions or concerns they may have.
• Position patients appropriately, including assisting those with limited mobility.
• Safely handle all radiologic equipment, ensuring patient exposure to radiation is minimized.
• Observe and assess each patient's condition and respond to their age-specific needs.
• Produce diagnostic and high-quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist.
• Promptly notify management of any damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.
• Utilize electronic patient information systems to confirm patient details and ensure accuracy of exams, following dual patient identifier procedures.
• Maintain accurate patient records by properly identifying images and ensuring they are uploaded correctly to the PACS system.

Requirements:

• Completion of formal training in an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• New York State license or ability to obtain a license prior to starting.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as an X-Ray Technologist.
• Experience in a Level 1 trauma center is preferred.
• Ability to safely lift or move patients and to stand for extended periods.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
• Compassionate and patient-centered disposition.
• Team player with the ability to foster a cohesive working environment.
• Current BLS certification.
• Experience using C-arm/O-arm within the past 8 months is required.
• Recent experience in an operating room setting is essential.
