This is a proactive, high-impact role in securing critical components, materials, and services that protect and transport our products. This role will be responsible for managing packaging operations and engineering that can be incorporated into new products, as well as existing products to improve their technologies, cost, and quality. WHAT YOU’LL DODevelop and execute strategies for packaging operations and engineering, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supply chain resiliencePartner with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to design packaging that protects high-value and sensitive technology during transport, storage, and deploymentImplement End-to-End packaging management measures and audits to ensure accuracy and to mitigate packaging issues. This includes the development & improvement of critical metricsLead the design of internal packaging solutions for delivering and presenting parts to the production line and work with the Material Flow Engineering and Industrial Engineering teams on the implementationPartner with the Engineering team, Supply Chain and Contract Manufacturers to influence technical design specs and customize product and manufacturing requirementsWork closely with cross-functional teams to support prototype requirements, execute against build milestones, and lead sourcing activitiesCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, production, manufacturing engineering, logistics, and quality, to aid in accurate demand forecasting, procurement planning, and timely delivery of packaging and materialsCollaborate with production planning and manufacturing teams to align packaging availability with production schedules, minimize disruptions, and meet customer demand on timeAnalyze packaging usage trends, identify opportunities for process improvements, and implement lean practices to optimize material handling, storage, and distributionUtilize ERP & WMS software systems and tools to track packaging inventory, generate reports, and provide data-driven insights to support decision-making and optimize material-related processesEnsure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and quality control protocols in all material management activitiesLead and develop a high-performing warehouse team, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvementREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, or related technical field10+ years of experience in supply chain management of complex hardware packaging and/or sourcing engineering3+ years of experience managing and developing a team of direct reportsAbility to travel up to 25% of the timeAbility to relocate, if not already local to be onsite in Costa Mesa, CAPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or materials engineeringPrevious experience in defense, aerospace, automotive, high tech, or related industryStrong knowledge of supply chain principles, inventory management techniques, and material planning strategiesExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisionsProficiency in using software systems and toolsSolid understanding of lean principles and experience in implementing process improvement initiativesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholdersDetail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of safety and regulatory compliance standards related to packaging compliance and material management activitiesUS Salary Range$166,000—$220,000 USDThe salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
