Elementary School Principal - Rockbridge Elementary Norcross, GA Position Overview Gwinnett County Public Schools, Georgia's largest school district, seeks an exceptional and visionary Principal to lead a school community focused on academic excellence, student achievement, and continuous improvement. The Principal serves as the instructional leader of the school, fostering a culture of high expectations, collaboration, innovation, and respect for all students and staff. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of school operations, including curriculum and instruction, school climate, personnel management, community engagement, and operational effectiveness to ensure a safe, supportive, and high-performing learning environment. License and Certification Qualifications Required Hold Educational Leadership Tier II Certification at Level 6 or higher; OR Be eligible for a non-renewable Educational Leadership Tier II certificate while completing Educational Leadership Tier II program requirements at the Specialist level or higher leading to professional certification. Education Qualifications Required Master's Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field. Preferred Specialist Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field. Doctoral Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field. Experience Qualifications Required Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience, preferably at the same school level as the administrative position being filled. Preferred Minimum of two (2) years of administrative leadership experience. Primary Responsibilities Instructional Leadership Provide visionary instructional leadership that promotes high levels of student achievement. Build, communicate, and sustain a shared school vision. Foster shared leadership and collaborative decision-making. Lead a professional learning community focused on continuous improvement. Utilize multiple sources of data to drive instructional decisions. Monitor curriculum implementation, instructional practices, and assessment systems. School Climate and Culture Establish and sustain a positive, inclusive, and safe school climate. Address internal and external factors that impact school effectiveness. Create a learning environment built on high expectations, respect, and equity for all stakeholders. Effectively manage conflict and respond to crises in a timely manner. Promote shared responsibility and collective ownership of school success. Recruit, select, and retain high-quality teachers and staff. Support the induction and onboarding of new employees. Mentor novice teachers and emerging leaders. Provide meaningful professional learning and growth opportunities. Develop and sustain mentoring programs grounded in best practices. Foster staff engagement and retention through a supportive work environment. Teacher Evaluation and Professional Growth Maintain a positive and growth-oriented evaluation culture. Demonstrate commitment to effective teacher evaluation practices. Document and assess teacher performance using multiple measures. Ensure compliance with all legal and district requirements regarding employee evaluation. School Operations and Management Oversee daily school operations, facility maintenance, and safety initiatives. Utilize data to support and improve student achievement outcomes.Seek, allocate, and manage fiscal resources effectively. Coordinate and manage instructional and operational technology resources. Maintain responsible stewardship of school financial resources. Communication and Community Relations Build strong partnerships with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders. Communicate effectively with teachers, students, parents, and families. Engage community organizations and partners to support school goals. Serve as an ambassador for the school and Gwinnett County Public Schools. Professionalism and Ethical Leadership Demonstrate the highest professional standards of educational leadership. Exhibit ethical decision-making and integrity in all actions. Serve as a role model for students, staff, and the community. Participate in ongoing professional development to support continuous improvement. Student Achievement and School Success Maintain a relentless focus on academic excellence and student outcomes. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk.
