Program Specialist Job Description
Position Summary: The Program Specialist works with residents to ensure all programming needs are met, while reporting directly to the Program Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES:- Know and adhere to STAR's policies and procedures
- Coordinate/communicate with all other departments as needed
- Ensure the department continuous compliance with all ACA, PREA, and departmental CBCF and BCS standards
- Provide reinforcers and corrective actions to STAR residents as needed to meet 4:1 ratio
- Conduct classes on a weekly basis
- Conduct individual sessions to address barriers identified within the program
- Appropriately document information within 24 hours
- Complete detailed and individualized case notes
- Attend House Meetings for respective house assignment to relay pertinent information regarding resident progress and concerns
- Suggest ways to make programming better for the resident
- Complete any other jobs assigned to by management
- Adhere to all duties listed on the Program Specialist job duties form
- Staff holding this position will be evaluated on the following intervals of employment: 90th day, 6 month, 1 year, and annually thereafter

- Position Skills: Knowledge of STAR's Treatment Model, Teaching Effectiveness, Use of Redirection Techniques and Behavioral Reinforcements, Effective Intervention Strategies, Resident Advocacy, Development of Therapeutic Alliance, and Development of Self Efficacy.
- At minimum, must have high school diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree in human service or criminal justice field and/or bachelor's degree or better is preferred
- Experience in case management, corrections, behavioral health, or social services strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with evidence-based practices, risk/needs assessments, and re-entry programming is a plus.
- Valid driver's license
All positions serve at the pleasure of the STAR Facility Governing Board.
