Position Overview:

The role involves assessing and implementing medically prescribed physical therapy treatment plans aimed at addressing movement dysfunction and alleviating pain caused by injuries, illnesses, disabilities, or other health-related issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct initial and ongoing evaluations of patients' conditions.
• Develop, modify, and assess care plans tailored to identified issues, involving patients and their families in the process.
• Administer therapy interventions using standard physical therapy techniques suitable for each patient's condition.
• Educate patients, families, and staff by identifying educational needs.
• Ensure continuity of care by engaging in discharge planning with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals, providing home instructions, recommending equipment or modifications, and suggesting follow-up care as necessary.
• Supervise the activities of physical therapy assistants, students, and other support staff.
• Maintain accurate documentation detailing patient responses to therapy and the necessity for skilled interventions as required by regulatory standards.
• Work in a consistently alert and safe manner.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy or a related field, as required for state licensure.

Experience:

• No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Demands:

• Regularly required to stand.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Regularly use hearing and speech for effective communication.
• Frequent auditory skills to detect body sounds and alarms.
• Regular visual acuity for both near and far distances.
• Frequent walking, reaching, gripping, and data entry tasks.
• Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting, and repetitive movements of legs and arms.
• Occasional lifting and moving of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
• Occasional patient handling.
• Occasional driving and visual tasks to assess distances and colors.
• Rarely required to crawl.

Licensure and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification is required within 90 days of employment. Additional certifications may be necessary based on departmental needs.

State Licensure Requirements:

• Illinois: Licensed Physical Therapist - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
• Missouri: Licensed Physical Therapist - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
• Oklahoma: Licensed Physical Therapist - Oklahoma Medical Board
• Wisconsin: Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
