Empower your career in special education as a dedicated paraprofessional supporting students with severe autism in a dynamic and impactful school environment near Norristown, PA. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a true difference every day, working on a team committed to student growth and safety.
You will be assigned to either a high school or elementary setting, providing one-on-one and small group assistance to students with severe behavioral needs. The role requires a compassionate, resilient individual who can remain calm and proactive when navigating challenging situations—supporting students who may exhibit aggressive or self-injurious behaviors, and assisting with intensive safety, daily living, and hands-on care tasks.
What We’re Seeking:
- Minimum of 1+ years’ experience as a paraprofessional in a school special education classroom (PreK-12), specifically with severe autism and behavioral needs
- Comfortable implementing behavioral interventions and maintaining a structured environment
- Willing and able to assist with toileting, feeding, transfers, and hands-on support
- Reside within 35 minutes of work sites
- Available for the full-time schedule (Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM)
- Required to attend a full week of mandatory orientation before assignment
- Must meet at least one of Pennsylvania’s paraprofessional qualification requirements (college credits, degree, or certification)—or obtain certification within 60 days of assignment start
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist lead teachers in behavior management and academic instruction
- Implement safety plans and de-escalation strategies as trained
- Participate in ongoing training and team collaboration
- Support students in activities of daily living and engagement throughout the day
Enjoy the satisfaction of working in a supportive environment that values your expertise and commitment. Motivated, caring professionals ready for meaningful impact—apply today to begin your journey supporting students who need you most!
