About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Cardiac Telemetry or Progressive Care Unit/Intensive Care Unit experience. Ability to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips. Experience with post-cardiac procedural care (ablations, cardiac catheterizations, Post-Op Day 1 open heart, permanent pacemaker placements). Ability to administer and titrate IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone. Description: The unit has 29 beds with a patient ratio of 1:4. Staffing includes charge nurse, unit secretary, and patient care technicians. The equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, SCD machines, Hill Rom beds, and telemetry monitors. Documentation is completed using Meditech. The schedule requires full-time hours, including 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period. Floating may occur to any area where competency has been demonstrated. Patient experience is a priority; staff should treat every patient with courtesy and respect. Engagement in bedside shift report and teaching patients about their care is expected. Procedures performed on the unit include IV insertions, NGT placement and maintenance, chest tube maintenance, temporary pacemakers, and Foley insertions. The dress code consists of navy blue scrubs, with the option to wear black scrub pants and a navy blue top. The unit promotes a family-like atmosphere with both tenured and new staff. The environment is fast-paced, and there is a focus on teamwork and communication. Recognition has been received for achieving stringent clinical guidelines in care.
