Salary: $52,000 - $56,000 Annually
Location: Anchorage, AK ( Hybrid-Remote)
Position Summary:
The Student Conservation Association provides an array of corps and crews programming across the country. Program Coordinators help with the administrative and logistical tasks of executing program in their corresponding region. The Program Coordinator position is responsible for ensuring the logistical and administrative task lists associated with the safe, complete and accurate execution of SCA’s various Corps programs in their portfolio are completed in a timely manner. This person ensures Team Leaders are equipped for the program delivery work scheduled, comply with curriculum and any applicable AmeriCorps mandates, safety controls, logistical service/program delivery needs, and mandatory internal record-keeping and administrative requirements. This position reports to the Alaska Program Manager for Corps programs.
This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Corps programming in the State of Alaska and will be based out of Anchorage, Fairbanks or Juneau. SCA Alaska has an office in Anchorage and has a hybrid work approach. If remote, away from Anchorage, this position requires 4 week-long trips to Anchorage: staff training or pre-season prep, leader training, member training, and post season wrap up.
Job Responsibilities:
Program Planning & Delivery:
- Supervise 3-4 Corps Teams
- Work with Alaska Program Manager Corps to review execution plan and ensure necessary preparations and monitoring plans are completed; Collaborate with Alaska program staff team to execute program.
- Report, track and respond to incidents in accordance with SCA policies and procedures.
- Responsible for modeling, facilitating, and building an inclusive community.
- Collaborate with Agency Partner- on the ground support- for work project logistics and outputs
- Ensures project logistics are planned and organize prior to program; Assist SCA’s Training Department with member and leader training.
- Monitor leaders’ project delivery to ensure compliance with administrative, AmeriCorps and other curriculum checklists; Responsible for ensuring leaders and members are readily equipped with or have access to necessary gear and equipment.
- Monitor administrative requirements of the program: weekly timesheets, program reports/summaries; development and monitoring of program budget.
- Ensures timesheets are completed accurately by all program participants and leaders, approve timesheets for each participant; Ensure program reports/summaries are submitted timely
- Monitor team budgets: save receipts and code properly; track spending on each line item.
- Monitor all other SCA administrative requirements are met by teams.
- Communicate regularly with the field leaders with weekly check-ins.
- Schedule, plan and execute field visits to camp with the teams for 2 nights while monitoring the crew dynamic, program outputs, compliance with policies and work output expectations.
Recruiting & Onboarding:
- Act as hiring manager to interview and hire seasonal field leaders.
- Collaborate with Recruiter on member interviewing and hiring.
- Collaborate with HR on leader and member onboarding and field ready status for all participants.
- Assist with orientation of crew leaders to prepare them for the teams work ahead of them.
Program Improvements:
- Share on-the-ground learnings with Alaska Program Manager and the Alaska team.
External Engagement:
- Represent Alaska Corps Program in the community.
- Represent SCA with Agency partners on pre-season and post season calls and field visits.
- Assist Alaska Program Managers and Partnership staff to build relationships with community organizations and land partners on a local level.
- Maintain relationship with alumni.
Internal SCA Engagement:
- Collaborate with HR and Recruitment teams’ representatives for leader and crew member recruiting and onboarding processes.
- Collaborate with Partnership department for program implementation of work sold to agency partners
- Collaborate with Alaska program staff team on program preparation and implementation.
- Participate with Corps and Crew Staff across the country, sharing knowledge, experience and resources.
- Responsible for keeping abreast of internal policies and procedures and any AmeriCorps requirements, such as but not only weekly time-keeping logs, narrative reporting for funders, and other SCA mandates and ensuring Team Leaders’ timely and accurate compliance.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors in a related field preferred
- 2-5 years’ experience working in a related field
- Project management experience in a collaborative environment
- Strong communication skills when working with various external and internal partners
- Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, problem solve, and follow through on tasks
- Experience working with and supervising young adults from racially and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds
- Wilderness First Responder and CPR certifications or ability to obtain before start date
- Experience working in conservation and strong technical outdoor living skills (experience as a former Crew Leader is preferred)
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of lifting 40 pounds and working on uneven terrain
- Intermediate computer skills: Microsoft suite including Teams, Outlook, Excel; Salesforce
Travel Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a Motor Vehicle Record that meets SCA standards.
- Excellent driving record and ability to drive in a variety of conditions including city driving and/or use of four-wheel drive as well as standard transmission as needed.
- The ability to travel for extended periods of time outside and over a variety of terrain
- Must be able to spend time in the field with the teams for 2 nights, about 4 times throughout the summer
