The job of Paraprofessional 2 is done for the purpose of providing support to the instructional program within assigned specialized classroom with specific responsibility for assisting the Lead Teacher in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in the regular classroom or in a self-contained classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time; and providing information to appropriate school personnel.

Essential functions include adapting classroom activities, administering tests, assisting special education teacher with creating lesson plans, assisting medically fragile or physically disabled students, communicating with instructional staff and parents, implementing lesson plans, implementing behavioral plans, maintaining instructional materials, monitoring students, providing instruction, attending meetings and in-service presentations, administering first aid, and performing other related duties.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED certificate and either completing 48 hours at an institution of higher education, obtaining an associate's (or higher) degree, or passing a State approved assessment. Job related experience is preferred.

Communication/organization skills include maintaining communication with school personnel and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action which will meet the educational needs of students. Reasoning ability includes solving practical problems and interpreting instructions. Language skills include reading, analyzing, writing reports, and presenting information. Physical demands include sitting, walking, standing, talking or hearing, and specific vision abilities. The work environment is usually loud and is a standard acceptable level for this environment.

Other skills and abilities include applying knowledge of current research and theory to the instructional program, planning and implementing lessons, establishing effective working relationships, and speaking clear and concisely in written or oral communication.

Terms of employment are 186 days and salary is Level 9. The classified salary schedule is available at . FLSA status is hourly, non-exempt. Report to is Principal.
