Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department (ER) 7am-7pm

Overview Join our dedicated nursing team at Sentara Obici Hospital, located in Suffolk, VA. We’re seeking motivated Registered Nurses to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in our Emergency Department (ED). Full-time 9 a.m.‑9 p.m., second shift (evenings). About the Hospital Sentara Obici Hospital is a 175-bed, full-service community hospital known for compassionate, high-quality care and strong teamwork. It serves as a vital part of the community, offering advanced medical services with a personal touch. About the Unit The Emergency Department provides a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. It has 37 beds including a dedicated 5-bed Behavioral Health Safe Suite and handles about 53,000 visits annually (~150 per day). The ED is equipped with advanced technology and rapid response protocols. Nurses collaborate with physicians and techs, focusing on critical assessment, triage, and lifesaving care. Responsibilities The RN is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The RN must assess, diagnose, plan, implement, coordinate care, teach, promote health, and evaluate patient outcomes. The RN must adhere to professional performance standards including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health. Qualifications BSN or MSN preferred. Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Diploma or Master’s acceptable based on experience. Minimum of 6 months of RN experience in acute care (ER, ICU, intermediate, recovery). New graduates are not considered. Virginia or Compact Multi-State license in good standing. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire. ACLS and PALS or ENPC within one year of hire.
