About the Role

The Branch Manager is responsible for leading the overall performance, operations, customer experience, and growth of the branch while ensuring compliance with banking regulations, internal policies, and operational standards. This role provides leadership and direction to branch staff, promotes a strong service-focused culture, supports employee development, manages operational risk, and drives business development and deposit growth initiatives. The Branch Manager serves as a key leader within the community and organization by fostering customer relationships, maintaining operational excellence, and supporting the Bank’s strategic goals and long-term success. This position reports directly to the Regional President.

Essential Responsibilities

• In addition to other duties as assigned from time to time in SSB&T’s reasonable discretion, your responsibilities include:
  • Leadership & Culture:
    • Foster a positive, collaborative, and customer-focused branch culture
    • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop branch staff through ongoing feedback and performance management
    • Support employee engagement, retention, and succession planning initiatives
    • Promote accountability, professionalism, and operational excellence across the branch team
    • Conduct regular team meetings, coaching conversations, and developmental discussions
  • Branch Operations & Compliance:
    • Oversee daily branch operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and exceptional service delivery
    • Ensure adherence to bank policies, procedures, operational standards, and regulatory requirements, including audit readiness
    • Maintain strong internal controls related to cash handling, vault operations, dual control procedures, and transactional accuracy
    • Monitor branch operational metrics and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service levels
    • Identify operational risks and take proactive corrective action when necessary
    • Serve as the primary branch contact for audits, examinations, and internal reviews
    • Ensure branch security, safety, and fraud prevention procedures are consistently followed
  • Customer Experience & Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong customer relationships within the community
    • Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally and efficiently
    • Ensure a consistent, high-quality customer experience across all branch interactions
    • Promote relationship-based banking by identifying customer needs and connecting them with appropriate products and services
    • Support branch initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty
  • Business Development & Growth
    • Drive branch deposit growth and support overall branch production goals
    • Develop and maintain community relationships to strengthen the bank’s market presence
    • Participate in networking, community outreach, and business development activities
    • Partner with branch and regional leadership to execute strategic growth initiatives
    • Monitor branch performance trends and identify opportunities for growth and operational improvement
    • Required to complete at least 12 hours of community service annually, emphasizing activities that support business development efforts.
  • Team Development & Workforce Management:
    • Manage branch staffing, scheduling, and coverage planning to ensure operational continuity
    • Promote employee development through coaching, mentoring, and ongoing performance feedback while ensuring employees are effectively cross-trained to support operational continuity, service consistency, and workforce flexibility across the branch.
    • Support onboarding and training, initiatives for branch employees
    • Encourage continuous learning and career development within the branch
    • Assist with talent identification and internal development opportunities

Employment Commitments & Physical Requirements

• Exempt
• Full-time
• Work flexible hours – including evenings or weekends – to meet customer needs, support loan activity and attend events
• Community/ volunteer involvement a minimum of 12 hour per year
• Focus-intensive position requiring extended periods of sitting and digital navigation.
• Occasional walking, standing, and use of office equipment.
• Must possess close visual acuity and clear speech for verbal communication.

Location & Travel

• Physical reporting Branch or Operations location
• Travel may be necessary depending on business needs

Candidate Requirements

• Ability to adapt to growing business needs and structural changes
• High school diploma or GED;
• 2 + years of managerial/leadership experience
• Relevant licenses where required by law or regulation
• Familiarity with applicable banking regulations
• Attention to detail
• Proficiency with standard office software and ability to learn core banking platforms
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and any required pre-employment screening (drug testing, fingerprinting for FDIC-insured institutions)

Candidate Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field for professional roles
• 5 + years of banking, financial services, or credit union experience
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or related field
• Prior experience as an Operations Officer, Lead Teller or Assistant Branch Manager
• Experience supporting audits, exams, or regulatory reviews
• Familiarity with universal banking models and cross functional branch staffing
• Strong coaching, mentoring and team development experience
