*The Lexington Symphony, in partnership with Insource Services Inc., is seeking a qualified candidate to join our team in this role.*
The Executive Director (ED) works in partnership with the Board of Directors (Board) and staff to provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the organization. The ED has primary responsibility for leading all fundraising efforts and for the oversight and management of all marketing and public relations activities. The ED also implements policies and executes contracts with the approval of the Board and/or the Playing Members, and oversees day-to-day operations. Specific responsibilities include:

SUPERVISES : Operations Manager, Marketing & Graphic Design Consultants
COLLABORATES WITH: Board of Directors, Music Director, Playing Members, Treasurer, Production Manager, Bookkeeper
ADMINISTRATIVE/ORGANIZATIONAL
- Collaborate with the Board, Music Director, and Playing Members on strategic planning.
- Supervise and conduct performance reviews of the Operations Manager.
- Participate in periodic revision of, and ensure compliance with, personnel policies.
- Provide support to the Board, including facilitating the scheduling of Board meetings and timely communication and follow-up.
- Manage service contracts for donor database and ticketing services (Sales Force/Leap/Patron Manager), ensuring compliance with periodic updates and security requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal legal and/or contractual requirements
MARKETING/PUBLIC RELATIONS
- Build positive relationships with partner organizations, policymakers, media, and others
- Represent the organization by participating in key associations and local organizations, serving on committees and advisory groups, and speaking in public settings
- Collaborate with marketing consultant(s) to develop an overall Marketing Plan, to be approved by the Board.
- Oversee execution of Marketing Plan, ensuring deadlines are met and all marketing materials are accurate and complete.
- Manage updates to website content.
- Collaborate with Board to support and enhance marketing and public relations efforts.
CONCERT PRODUCTION
- Assist Operations Manager and Board with solicitation of ad sponsors for the concert program book.
- With Operations Manager, arrange Guest Artist itinerary, lodging, travel, and hospitality.
- Support Operations Manager in front-of-house management for all concerts.
- Support Production Manager as needed in back-of-house operations/concert production.
- Collaborate with Music Director, staff, performance venues, and all collaborative groups to create, maintain, and disseminate the master schedule for each season.
- Collaborate with Music Director in overseeing the recording of concerts for archival and rebroadcast purposes, and maintain archival recordings.
FINANCIAL
- Collaborate with the Board Treasurer, Finance Committee, and Development Committee to develop in the development of annual budget proposals for Board approval.
- Collaborate with Board Treasurer and Finance Committee to provide regular, timely internal financial statements to the Board comparing performance to current and previous year's budgets and other relevant benchmarks, monitoring expenses for adequate cash flow.
- Collaborate with Board Treasurer and Finance Committee on multi-year financial analysis and engaging the Board in strategic discussions about financial stability and sustainability.
- Edit and issue contracts and necessary documentation (including W-9s) as directed by the Music Director for Guest Artists (in collaboration with Bookkeeper).
DEVELOPMENT
- Identify fundraising goals in collaboration with the Board and staff.
- Create and oversee execution of a 2-3 year development plan and budget to meet those goals - detailing potential fundraising capacity for the organization, including: grant funding opportunities, annual appeal campaigns, individual and corporate donor identification and capacity, planned giving campaigns, potential partnerships with other organizations, development events, and donor appreciation activities.
- Engage the Board in helping to cultivate donor relationships and secure donations.
- Input and maintain donor/prospect notes in Patron Manager database.
SALARY/BENEFITS: The salary range is $90,000 to $100,000, depending on experience. This is a full-time hybrid position offering a flexible schedule plus a stipend for health insurance.
