Actuarial Summer Intern

Your Role The Actuarial, Underwriting, and Financial Analytics team oversees our finance operations, underwriting, analytics, actuary, corporate development, cost of healthcare, global business services, internal audit services, controller and finance shared services functions and responsibilities at Blue Shield of California. The Actuarial Intern will report to an Actuarial Manager. In this role, you will gain a deep understanding of the health care industry basic practices, develop technical skills, and contribute lasting models and exhibits that increase our efficiency and effectiveness. Your Knowledge and Experience Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, such as Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or Actuarial Science Serious interest in pursuing an actuarial career by having taken at least 1 actuarial exam prior May 2027 Preferred 1-2 years of related professional experience, project, or coursework A robust analytical skill set (Microsoft Excel proficiency experience is required) Financial acumen and ability to synthesize data into insights and/or reporting Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines Hybrid This role requires employees to be in-office based on our hybrid workplace model, balancing purposeful in-person collaboration with flexibility. For most teams, this means coming into the office two days each week. Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location will work with their manager to determine in-office time based on business need. Pay $25.00 per hour for Undergraduate $30.00 per hour for Graduate About Our Internships Our paid internship program is thoughtfully curated to provide students with experience and exposure to the health professional industry.
