Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in NYC that is seeking a Senior Accountant.Duties:

• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and outstanding items
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities
• Reconcile cash activity, funding sources, and other general ledger accounts
• Analyze financial data and identify trends, variances, or potential issues
• Assist with grant and funding-related accounting and reporting
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Collaborate with internal departments to gather information and resolve accounting issues
• Prepare reports and communicate financial findings to management
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, funding requirements, and organizational policies

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Experience within a nonprofit organization
• Understanding of grant accounting and funding processes
• Strong account reconciliation experience
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas, and data analysis
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with government-funded programs or grants
• Sage Intacct experience
• Experience supporting audits and financial reporting
• Familiarity with nonprofit financial regulations and compliance requirements

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.


We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
