Clinical Research Coordinator

Full Job Description: A flexible, hardworking individual with strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills is sought by the University of California at San Francisco to serve as a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) in the DeRisi and Wilson Laboratories. This role will serve as the primary contact point for participants and their families for an established study designed to develop new diagnostic tools for autoimmune, infectious, and post-infectious neurological conditions, including meningitis and encephalitis. Under the supervision of Dr. Michael Wilson and Dr. Joseph DeRisi, the CRC will perform independently or with general direction at the fully operational journey level of the series to execute, manage, and coordinate research protocols; coordinate the data collection and operations of several concurrent clinical research studies under the guidelines of research protocols, UCSF, and regulating agency policies. Responsibilities include: Conducting capacity assessment and informed consent procedures in inpatient and outpatient settings. Medical chart review and data entry. Collecting specimens from various clinical labs. Management/organization of an extensive biobank. General administrative support. The CRC will interact with many departments at UCSF and outside institutions, including physicians, clinical lab staff, and nurses. As such, communication skills (written and verbal) are essential to the role. The CRC’s duties may include, but will not be limited to: Supporting the management and coordinating the tasks of multiple clinical research studies. Maintaining and updating research databases and reports. Managing protocols in the Committee on Human Research online system (IRIS), including renewals and modifications of protocol applications and the implementation of new studies. Assuring compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies. Maintaining regulatory documents. Reporting study progress to investigators.
