Government Affairs Attorney

Our client, an insurance company specializing in home owner's direct market, is expanding into the direct life insurance market offering term life coverage. They are currently seeking a Government Affairs Attorney to join their in-house legal department. This position will provide primary legal support for the company's life insurance products and operations in all states.

Responsibilities include:

• Coordinating as necessary with affiliate legal resources and outside counsel relative to all regulatory and legal matters.
• Providing regulatory support for company initiatives such as the expansion of company licenses, new product offerings and implementation of operational processes.
• Conducting legal research and providing legal advice as necessary in support of life insurance products and operations.
• Monitoring legislative, regulatory, and industry activity, analyzing its impact on company operations, and communicating legal requirements appropriately.
• Reviewing and submitting rate, rule and form filings for life insurance product(s) to state Departments of Insurance.
• Acting as the primary contact for state Departments of Insurance and other regulatory agencies to address and resolve all regulatory issues associated with life insurance products and operations.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be an admitted attorney with 3plus year's related experience in the life insurance industry. The candidate should be highly organized, with an aptitude for critical thinking and problem resolution; an inherent desire to embrace change and to pursue continuous improvement; and outstanding communication skills.
