Shift: Day Shift (Monday-Thursday / 6:00am - 4:30pm)
Pay Range: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour

About the Role

The CNC Lathe Machinist Level III sets up and operates 2-axis CNC lathe machines to fabricate precision plastic and non-metallic components for demanding customer applications. Working with minimal supervision under the direction of the department Lead, this role requires deep technical expertise in CNC programming, blueprint interpretation, and quality inspection. This position involves access to confidential information and requires adherence to a strictly enforced Confidentiality Agreement.

What You'll Do
Machine Setup & Programming

• Perform new and repeat job setups on 2-axis CNC lathe machines with minimal supervision, following established process sheets.
• Create, edit, retrieve, and manage CNC programs from system files to support machine setup and production.
• Evaluate and update estimated-to-actual cycle times; focus on reducing setup and run times to improve throughput.

Production & Quality

• Read and interpret manufacturing documentation - including travelers, blueprints, and sketches - to produce parts that meet customer and quality specifications.
• Perform self-inspection prior to Quality Assurance first article review; apply non-conforming material procedures as needed.
• Complete required work-related paperwork and MRP (Material Requirements Planning) documents accurately and on time.
• Perform manual hand-work operations when required to support production goals.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Communicate proactively with supervisors and teammates regarding production issues, errors, and process improvement opportunities.
• Challenge existing processes and make sound production decisions to create a more efficient shop environment.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness in assigned work areas in accordance with 5S standards.
• Conduct all shop activities in a safe and compliant manner.

What You Bring
Required

• 4+ years of hands-on CNC lathe machining experience.
• Strong working knowledge of CNC lathe programming, including formatting and editing G-code/M-code programs.
• Proficiency with precision inspection tools: micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and comparators.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents with accuracy.
• Solid shop math skills, including measurement conversion and applied geometry.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Self-motivated with strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking ability.
• Basic computer proficiency; experience with manufacturing software (e.g., JobBoss) is a plus.

Preferred

• CAD/CAM software experience is strongly preferred.
• Certificate from NTMA or equivalent technical school.
• Familiarity with Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM).
