About Us
ACE-AFSCME Local 2250 represents over 6,500 education support personnel in Prince George’s County Public Schools. Our members do essential work every day to keep schools running and support student success.

We represent members in the workplace, negotiate and enforce our collective bargaining agreements, and advocate for our members. At the same time, we are working to build a stronger organizing culture – one where members are informed, engaged, connected to one another, and empowered to take an active role in their union.

We are a small staff supporting a large and diverse membership, which means every team member has meaningful responsibility, significant autonomy, and a direct impact on the union’s effectiveness.

About the Role
We are currently seeking a Field Representative . This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Executive Director. 

The field representative serves as a primary point of contact for members and works closely with union leaders, staff, and employer representatives. This position requires critical thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a varied and sometimes unpredictable caseload while balancing competing priorities.

This is an in-person role with frequent travel throughout Prince George’s County. Although the position generally operates during normal business hours (8:00AM – 4:00PM), regular evening and occasional weekend work is required for membership meetings, trainings, events, and other union activities. Evening and weekend demands increase significantly during busy times such as contract negotiations.

Duties

• Represent bargaining unit members in investigatory interviews, grievance hearings, and other workplace-related proceedings
• Investigate member concerns by gathering relevant facts and documentation, and interviewing relevant parties 
• Interpret and help enforce the collective bargaining agreements, policies, past practices, and applicable workplace policies, procedures, and rules
• Prepare, file, track, and manage grievances and member concerns
• Maintain timely communication with members and close the loop on outstanding matters
• Develop member communications such as emails and flyers
• Prioritize incoming member concerns based on urgency, deadlines, risk, and potential impact
• Assess member concerns to determine whether they fall within the union’s role and responsibilities; provide clear guidance when they do not and, when appropriate, direct members to other available resources
• Advocate effectively with management while maintaining professional working relationships
• Provide members with clear, accurate information about their contract, rights, responsibilities, and workplace policies
• Regularly visit worksites and maintain an active and visible union presence, using sound judgment to determine when matters are best handled in person, by phone, or virtually
• Assist with membership recruitment, new employee orientations, and efforts to increase member engagement and participation
• Identify and cultivate member-leaders and activists
• Support contract campaigns, organizing campaigns, membership meetings, trainings, mobilizations, and other union activities
• Maintain accurate case notes, calendars, records, correspondence, and other documentation
• Coordinate with other union staff and leadership as necessary to provide consistent and effective member representation
• Perform other duties as assigned

About You
Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
• Experience in labor relations, union representation, organizing, or a related field strongly preferred
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with members from a wide variety of backgrounds and workplaces
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; the ability to communicate complex or sensitive information clearly, accurately, and professionally
• Strong judgment and critical thinking 
• Strong problem-solving, investigative, and conflict-resolution skills
• Ability to interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements, policies, and workplace rules
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously
• Proficiency with standard office technology, including email, calendars, word processing, virtual meetings, electronic recordkeeping
• Must possess a driver’s license and a reliable, insured vehicle
• Ability to pass a background check 
• Bilingual (Spanish) a huge plus

Salary & Benefits 
This is a full-time, exempt, union position represented by OPEIU Local 2. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the CBA. 

Salary: $76,948.80 – $119,080.92 

Benefits include: 100% employer-paid health insurance, dental, vision, and life insurance; up to 6% retirement match; annual leave (13 days/year), sick leave (12 days/year), holidays, and winter break closure.
