Compensation: $24 – 30/hour

Job Summary: Midwest Refuah Health Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to provide exceptional patient care and ensure smooth office operations. As a key member of our team, you will serve as the first impression for patients and provide both administrative and clinical support. The ideal candidate will balance the needs of patients while maintaining efficient workflow, supporting providers before, during, and after procedures. This position requires flexibility, with some evenings and weekend hours.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Escort patients to exam rooms and accurately obtain vital signs (weight, height, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, respiratory rate)
• Record patient histories (past medical, family, and social history) in the EMR
• Assist patients with completing forms and questionnaires as needed
• Administer injections and perform phlebotomy under provider direction
• Perform point-of-care testing; label and process specimens appropriately
• Assist with prescription refills and communicate lab results to patients
• Ensure procedure rooms are clean, stocked, and prepared for use
• Assist providers during medical procedures, following specific instructions and preferences
• Prepare and turn over exam rooms between patient visits
• Provide patients with post-visit instructions and ensure follow-up care is clearly communicated
• Support referral coordination and follow-up processes
• Actively prepare for and participate in daily huddles
• Monitor and replenish medical supplies as needed
• Support front desk and administrative functions as needed to ensure efficient clinic operations and patient flow
• Assist with patient check-in/check-out, scheduling, and coordination of appointments during high-volume periods
• Cross-train and collaborate with administrative staff to maintain smooth patient flow and minimize wait times
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in both administrative and clinical tasks in a healthcare setting.
• Familiarity with scheduling systems and electronic health records.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
• 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient in computer systems and electronic health records.

Physical Demands:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the office for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds occasionally.
• Occasional exposure to communicable diseases, contaminated blood, and body fluids.
