Position Overview This position is responsible for providing a full range of telephone switchboard duties, including triaging calls and relaying messages. Assists with clerical duties as required. Serves as a liaison between patients and medical staff. Supports and adheres to the Cancer Care Northwest Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Responsibilities Courteously and efficiently answer all incoming calls and connect callers with the correct extension. Take and relay messages accurately and in a timely manner. Respond to emergency and urgent calls from patients promptly, directing callers immediately to clinical staff as necessary. Perform operator functions including triaging calls, connecting and transferring calls, setting up conference calls, instructing users on telephone procedures, and reporting telephone and equipment malfunctions to the appropriate party. Provide pleasant and helpful phone contact for callers. Be responsible for opening and closing the switchboard. Perform clerical duties as assigned to maintain workflow in the department. Perform all other duties/responsibilities as necessary or assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or a General Education Degree. Three to five years of office experience, preferably in a medical office. Physical Demands Regularly: sit, bend, grasp, reach, talk and hear. Occasionally: stand, stoop or crouch, lift up to 30 pounds, pull or push up to 30 pounds, and carry up to 30 pounds. Vision: clearly see up to 5 feet with or without corrective lenses; clearly see up to 20 feet with or without corrective lenses. Work Environment While performing the essential duties/responsibilities of this job, the employee will not be exposed to any workplace environmental conditions caused by extreme noise, heat, cold, workplace hazards, atmospheric dust/fumes/vapors/mists, pathogens, or toxic chemicals.
