Lurie Children's Hospital of ChicagoJob Description: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) NICU12 hour night shifts only, every 3rd weekend required (Fri/Sat/Sun)Nov 30, 2026 start date.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma/GED.Completion of program leading to certification as Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).Must be able to safely immobilize children, if necessary, and be able to move equipment and patients; respond quickly to patient care situations; effectively communicate with patients/families, physicians, and patient care staff, and meet professional image and communication standards.Bilingual ability preferred.Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.Shift: 12 hour night shifts only, every 3rd weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun)Job Duties:1. Direct patient care: assists with the following tasks under the direction of an RN:Orienting families to the ambulatory clinic areaVital signs measurement per department standardDocumentation of patient data per department standard either on paper record or in EMREmptying fluid collection containersPoint of care testing/controls glucose, hemocult, urine dipstick, hemoglobin A1C, HCG testingPO feedingBulb suctioningAssisting with proceduresAssisting with intra hospital transportHolding patientsProviding comfort measures2. Stocking and maintenance:Changing needle boxes when 2/3 fullDistributing linenClean rooms after dischargeReplacing canisters, oxygen tubing, and nebulizers per protocolObtaining unit suppliesReturning unused supplies/equipment from patient room and treatment room and charges items to central area designated by unit3. Clerical:Assisting with sending labsPhone calling/paging as directedCoverage for clerk4. Cleaning:Keeping unit orderlyCleaning equipment and toysChecking and recording refrigerator temperaturesChecking and recording of AED checksEducation: High School Diploma/GED (Required)(BLS) - Basic Life Support - American Heart AssociationPay Range: $19.00-$28.50 HourlyAt Lurie Children's, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise.
