Position Overview
A Western NY Company is seeking a highly skilled Solar Electrical Estimator & Procurement Lead to own material takeoffs, purchasing, and cost accuracy across commercial solar projects.
This is a high-impact individual contributor role. The right candidate can review electrical plan sets, build complete material lists without direction, and ensure projects are fully prepared for execution.
Key Responsibilities
Build complete and accurate material takeoffs directly from plan sets and system designs
Own purchasing, vendor relationships, and material pricing
Manage supply chain planning, lead times, and project readiness
Review designs for constructability and provide input on materials and equipment
Support estimating with accurate, real-world pricing
Evaluate and price change orders based on material and scope impacts
Qualifications
Strong electrical background (commercial/industrial preferred)
Experience with solar PV systems and balance of system components
Ability to read and interpret plan sets, single lines, and construction drawings
Proven experience building material takeoffs without predefined BOMs
Experience with procurement, estimating, or project-based purchasing
High level of ownership, accuracy, and attention to detail
