Essential Responsibilities

• Fiscal Responsibility
  • Efficiently utilize resources and supplies to promote cost savings and effective budget management.
  • Manage time productively, delegate assignments, and proactively schedule based on patient acuity and census to optimize costs.
  • Engage in education on product and practice changes to support non-salary cost savings.

  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives including meaningful use, value-based purchasing, regulatory compliance, work redesign, and nurse-sensitive indicators.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, multitasking abilities, and maintain thorough documentation per unit and organizational standards.
  • Practice accountability through the nursing process to deliver optimal care, collaborate with the healthcare team, streamline workflows, and enhance patient experience.
  • Apply evidence-based practices and maintain current knowledge of policies and standards of care. Assign patient care based on nurse expertise, acuity, and technical needs.
• Community Service and Patient Satisfaction
  • Positively represent the healthcare facility in community service and events.
  • Actively contribute to patient satisfaction through rounding, timely response to needs, service recovery, and professionalism.
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment by reducing noise, appropriate use of electronic devices, and supporting healthcare students and their programs.
• Patient Safety
  • Incorporate safe patient care practices including fall prevention, safe mobilization, medication administration, and patient identification.
  • Utilize event management systems to report near misses and engage in proactive error reduction.
  • Adhere to principles of Just Culture, HIPAA, national safety standards, and social media policies.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in charge nurse roles, mentoring, precepting, and leadership.

Education and Experience Required: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Proficiency with computer skills is necessary. Minimum of three years recent critical care nursing experience is required.

Mandatory Licensure/Certifications: Current active Registered Nurse licensure by the appropriate state board. Area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications may be required and maintained.

Work Shift: Night shift (4th shift) in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest United States.
