Water Resources Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex water, wastewater, drainage, flood risk, and environmental infrastructure projects. This role will involve managing projects from initial scoping and feasibility through detailed design, approvals, construction, commissioning, and closeout. You will work closely with clients, technical specialists, contractors, regulators, and community stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, sustainably, on time, and within budget.


Key responsibilities include preparing project scopes, programmes, budgets, risk registers, and procurement strategies; coordinating multidisciplinary design teams; overseeing technical reports, modelling, assessments, and design documentation; and managing submissions for planning, environmental, and regulatory approvals. You will monitor progress, quality, commercial performance, and resource requirements, while identifying and resolving issues before they affect delivery. The role also includes supporting tender processes, administering contracts, reviewing contractor performance, maintaining accurate project records, and providing clear written and verbal updates to senior stakeholders and clients.


Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, water resources engineering, environmental engineering, or a related discipline, together with substantial experience delivering water infrastructure or environmental projects. Professional registration or progress towards professional accreditation is desirable. Strong knowledge of water resources planning, hydrology, hydraulics, flood risk management, drainage, or wastewater systems is required, along with experience using relevant modelling, design, project management, and reporting tools. You will need excellent communication, stakeholder management, commercial awareness, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to lead teams and manage competing priorities. A proactive approach to health and safety, sustainability, quality assurance, and continuous improvement is essential. A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to project and client sites may also be required.
