SUMMARY

Full‑time, onsite Chemistry Associate Scientist 1 position located in Morrisville, NC. Provides or oversees the analysis, administration, and oversight of standard chemistry policies, programs, and practices; offers feedback and guidance regarding sample analysis using fundamental chemistry knowledge and instrumentation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides fundamental analysis in support of standard testing materials, products, or devices using standard analytical instrumentation; follows SOPs and methods. Reviews, analyzes, interprets, and documents testing results. Oversees or reviews completion and processing of chemistry forms, documents, databases, and related materials. Provides analysis and interpretation and counsel to staff, management, and functional leaders regarding chemistry policies, programs, and practices. Provides feedback and makes decisions to resolve management and employee questions and requirements; assists with customer feedback and coordination of resources. Analyzes processes, results, and feedback to determine trends, draw conclusions, and present proposals and recommendations to management. Ensures accuracy of tests, equipment, actions, procedures, and databases through audits, queries, and reviews; resolves discrepancies. Participates in chemistry or cross‑functional projects, including budgeting, timelines, materials, and personnel. Cleans, maintains, prepares, and calibrates equipment, samples, and related areas. Interprets and applies department policies, procedures, applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Contributes to the department’s service efficiency by offering suggestions and acting as a team member. Promotes the overall mission of Pace Analytical by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior with customers and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Required Knowledge and Skills Fundamental principles, practices, and techniques of chemistry. Administration and oversight of chemistry programs, policies, and procedures. Methods to resolve chemistry problems, questions, and concerns. Understanding of applicable chemistry laws, codes, and regulations. Understanding of standard testing tools, instruments, and calibration. Computer applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and related systems. Principles and practices for effective project teamwork. Methods to communicate with staff, coworkers, and customers. Correct business English including spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Performing fundamental professional‑level chemistry duties in various assigned areas. Overseeing and administering standard chemistry functions. Training others in policies and procedures related to the work. Serving as a team member in project development and management. Operating in both team and individual contributor environments. Interpreting, applying, and explaining applicable laws, codes, and regulations. Preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. Using initiative and independent judgment within department guidelines. Using tact, discretion, and prudence when interacting with others. Performing effective oral presentations to groups across the department. Contributing to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals and objectives. Building and maintaining effective working relationships.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Mobility to work in a lab and office setting; use of standard office and lab equipment; stamina to sit for extended periods; lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently; vision to read printed materials and computer screens; hearing and speech for communication.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work performed in a lab and office setting; exposure to chemicals, fumes, gases, and noxious odors.
