Job Summary
Experienced Ophthalmic Technician with over 4 years of hands-on experience supporting ophthalmologists in comprehensive eye care services. Skilled in conducting pre-testing procedures, visual acuity assessments, tonometry, OCT, visual field testing, patient education, and EMR documentation. Proven ability to manage patient flow efficiently, maintain high standards of clinical care, and provide exceptional customer service in fast-paced ophthalmology practices.

Responsibilities 

• Conduct patient intake, review medical histories, and document symptoms accurately.
• Perform visual acuity testing, refractions, tonometry, keratometry, and color vision testing.
• Administer and assist with diagnostic procedures including OCT, visual field testing, fundus photography, pachymetry, and retinal imaging.
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist ophthalmologists during clinical procedures and minor surgeries.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, medication usage, contact lens care, and post-procedure instructions.
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and ensure documentation complies with practice standards.
• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
• Coordinate patient flow to maximize clinic efficiency and minimize wait times.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a clinical or ophthalmology practice setting.
• Proficient in visual acuity testing, tonometry, refraction, OCT, visual field testing, and ophthalmic imaging.
• Knowledge of ocular anatomy, eye diseases, treatment protocols, and ophthalmic terminology.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems and medical documentation.
• Strong patient communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment.
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining high standards of patient care.
• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or related certification preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional ophthalmic training preferred.
