Radiation Therapist PRN

Job Summary As a Radiation Therapist, your primary function is to administer prescribed doses of radiation to patients using radiation therapy equipment according to established practices and standards. In addition, you are responsible for verifying prescribed treatment dose, specific body parts to be treated and angles to be used; placing and immobilizing the patient to ensure accurate treatment; maintaining constant contact with the patient; ensuring the placement of protective devices; charting treatment details and reporting any abnormal conditions to the radiation oncologist; and providing appropriate teaching to patients and families. Responsibilities Verify prescribed treatment dose, specific body parts to be treated, and angles to be used. Place and immobilize the patient to ensure accurate treatment; maintain constant contact with the patient to keep them in proper position throughout treatment. Assure placement of protective devices to shield healthy exposed tissue. Chart treatment details and report any abnormal conditions to the radiation oncologist. Provide appropriate teaching to patients and families. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of Radiation Therapy Technology. ARRT Certified in Radiation Therapy Technology. Basic Cardiac Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Two years’ clinical experience in a hospital environment preferred.
