We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our client's growing team in New Orleans, Louisiana. This position combines strong technical accounting expertise with hands-on leadership in financial systems, helping ensure accurate reporting, reliable controls, and efficient month-end processes. The ideal candidate brings deep experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and Oracle-based financial platforms, along with the ability to collaborate across Finance, IT, FP& A, and Operations.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee core accounting activities by maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries, and reconciling balance sheet accounts and intercompany transactions to support accurate month-end close results.

• Apply U.S. GAAP and relevant regulatory accounting standards while strengthening internal control practices and ensuring financial records remain compliant and audit-ready.

• Act as the primary finance systems resource for Oracle Fusion Financials, supporting modules such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, and project-related financial functionality.

• Partner with technology and finance stakeholders to refine system setup, improve workflow efficiency, and enhance reporting structures that support timely business decisions.

• Manage financial master data, including chart of accounts, cost centers, and asset classifications, while maintaining governance standards and system integrity.

• Coordinate testing efforts for system updates, enhancements, and new functionality releases, including user acceptance validation and issue resolution.

• Produce and maintain customized financial reports and dashboards using Oracle reporting tools, Smart View, and related reporting applications.

• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting operations through automation, system integration, and process improvements across Oracle and connected business platforms.

• Assist with audit requests, internal management reporting, regulatory filings, data conversions, and integration efforts tied to new business activities or system changes.

• Document accounting procedures, system workflows, and best practices, and provide guidance to accounting staff and business users on effective use of financial systems.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA candidate preferred

• At least 5 years of experience in corporate accounting or public accounting roles.

• Strong background in month-end close, general ledger management, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliation.

• Advanced experience supporting or configuring Oracle Cloud Financials or Oracle Fusion Financials in a business environment.

• Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, with additional exposure to regulatory accounting frameworks such as FERC considered beneficial.

• Knowledge of accounting system design, financial data flows, integrations, and reporting hierarchies.

• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical accounting or system concepts clearly to business users.

• Experience with SQL, financial reporting tools, data analysis platforms, or enterprise performance management applications is preferred.
