Schedule: This is a full-time position with day shifts from Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM, featuring a rotating day off.

Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and specialized MRI imaging procedures under general supervision.
- Exhibit clinical proficiency in MRI across diverse locations and patient demographics. Adjust technical parameters based on individual patient requirements and demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills for age-appropriate care. Conduct IV access and administer contrast in line with facility protocols. Assist with invasive procedures guided by MRI.
- Engage in departmental and organizational initiatives aimed at performance improvement, enhancing workflows, patient experiences, quality, and safety, thereby boosting both patient care and operational efficiency. Actively contribute to training and educational activities for students and staff.
- Ensure a safe and suitable work environment in compliance with the institutional MR Safety Program. Screen all patients, follow conditional scanning protocols, and prepare patients safely for MRI procedures. Guarantee proper patient positioning to minimize the risk of burns and imaging artifacts by utilizing appropriate padding and coils. Safeguard the MR environment by limiting access to authorized personnel and preventing ferromagnetic devices from entering Zone 4.
- Manage departmental supplies and inventory. Inform the relevant colleague when supplies need to be ordered from external vendors. Document and report equipment and environmental issues as per policy. Conduct equipment quality control procedures and maintain necessary documentation.
- Transport patients to the MRI scanner and prepare the examination area. Confirm physician orders, patient preparation, and the rationale for the exam to ensure adherence to appropriate scanning protocols. Communicate effectively with patients, gather patient histories, address inquiries, and explain procedures to enhance patient understanding and comfort. Process completed exams for interpretation.
- Conduct quality assurance activities, including ACR-required QA phantom testing. Identify and report equipment malfunctions, ensuring timely follow-up and corrective actions by repair services. Address clinical and non-clinical issues and escalate concerns to the appropriate leadership as necessary.
- Provide patient education and support, including preparing patients for procedures and addressing their physical and psychological needs. Escalate concerns through the appropriate channels when necessary.
- Coordinate patient flow and care through consistent communication with patients, care team members, and families. Document patient care activities in electronic health record systems and ensure timely distribution of final images to the PACS system for interpretation.
- Consistently demonstrate professionalism in actions and communication, embodying the organization’s values and fostering a respectful and supportive atmosphere for patients, families, and colleagues. Adhere to the ARRT/ARMRIT Standards of Ethics.
- Utilize knowledge of MRI principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, patient positioning, MRI physics, and patient care. Comply with Joint Commission, state, federal, organizational, and departmental regulatory and compliance standards.
- Associate’s degree is required.
- Certification in Radiologic Technology or MRI from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) is required.
- A minimum of three (3) to four (4) years of MRI experience is required.
- Ability to independently perform all necessary MRI protocols is essential.
- ARMRIT Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist certification is required upon hire.
- ARRT (MRI) certification is required upon hire.
- Internal candidates with 10+ years of MRI scanning experience may be considered in lieu of certification requirements.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers is required upon hire from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross.
- Understanding of, or the ability to learn, transverse and cross-sectional anatomical and pathological presentations.
- Capability to perform, or learn, the technical operations associated with MRI equipment and procedures.
- Aptitude to work effectively in high-pressure and emergency situations.
This position offers a salary range of USD $42.82 - USD $71.16 per hour.
