The Opportunity
We partner with manufacturers across Newaygo seeking Shipping & Receiving Leads who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Lead and train a team of shipping and receiving personnel.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counting and discrepancy resolution.
- Coordinate with production, sales, and logistics to ensure timely material flow.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and quality standards in the warehouse.
- Operate and maintain material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Prepare and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading and packing slips.
- Identify and implement process improvements to optimize warehouse operations.
Recommended Qualifications
- 3-5 years experience in shipping and receiving, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including training and mentoring junior staff.
- Proficient in using ERP/WMS systems for inventory management and transaction processing.
- Strong understanding of logistics, including carrier selection, freight optimization, and documentation.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail for inventory accuracy and discrepancy resolution.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for inventory management and transaction processing.
- Forklift operator certification and experience with various material handling equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to train and mentor junior shipping/receiving staff.
- Familiarity with international shipping regulations and documentation (e.g., customs, incoterms).
